BUSWORLD PHOTOGRAPHY

I AM CHRISTOPHER LEACH THE ARTIST. I started this blog so that I can share with everyone my vast collection of transport photographs showing a personal and nostalgic view of the industry with images that span some 45 years taking in the U.K and some of Europe. I have no darkroom and so rather than being the perfectionist after tidying them up I upload the images warts and all, and even those that won't scan squarely or are scratched. In a way it adds age and character. You are all free to download these for your personal use but please remember I still own them and you are not just free to use them without prior permission for any knd of publishing. Click on images to enlarge them and if you want to see more leave your comments or visit my website for the mother-site with galleries including those Buses & Girls: PICTUREWORLD

OM isn't an abbreviation for Omar Sherif

This little Italian based OM minibus was no celebrity you must admit. I have no idea where in Portugal it was taken but judging by the presence of other members of the not too prevalent Fiat Community it might well have been taken in the car park beside a local Dealership. Obviously it looked as though it was no longer a cherished PSV perhaps now in 1984 owned by some School, Church, Scout Troop or the like.

My eyes aren't that good anymore, but does it say "Sporting Clube Beira Mar" on the front? If so, this small bus is used by the (soccer) players of the area Beira Mar in Vila Nova da Gaia, south of Porto. Another unique photo by the way, of this Utic bodied OM. In the eighties many of these vehicles were replaced by highly popular Toyota minibuses.

Thanks Duarte. I shouldn't blame your eyesight most of these images pixalate somewhat when scanned bluring the detail but I'm glad someone wants to shed a bit of light on these little mystery buses bringing them back to life. Today with digital cameras we can have fun instead of usually playing on the safe side and now record everything, but in the past we tended to forget the everyday and mundane often only recording by accident. This one should have had some pretty girls standing beside it, but as you can see there were none around that day. That was a very snap happy holiday!
