Many know my more recent genre Buses and Girls photography as those earlier buses I really like have all gone so now I enjoy my bus hobby more for the photography. As well as being an artist I owned a small transport business before I retired but today I have a little job too driving a minibus dong a school run to Wolverhampton in the afternoon and occasionally other jobs. It gets me out and about and satisfies my childhood ambition to drive a bus.

Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the Lisbon Sun
A deceptively quiet view of the Lisbon rush hour where No.118 in the Barraqueiro fleet a Utic-Leyland-DAB was resting between jobs.
Great! I do not think many photos of this particular bus exist. Maybe none. You had the knack somehow of taking pictures of what us Portuguese guys did not have eyes for. The Leyland DAB Utic Standard was rather popular for urban services and the majority of bus companies at least owned one. But I've never seen the Barraqueiro one. I wonder if it was an ex. RN.
Yes that's the beauty of being an outsider, one sees everything with an open mind and in Portugal I seemed to have photographed everything. Maybe some things too much and others too little like more of the Porto trolleybuses. As for this being an ex-RN bus maybe it was not old enough yey to be sold in 1984.
WOW !!!
ReplyDeleteCompletly new for me!
Thank you! ;)

ReplyDeleteGreat photo, Christopher. Thanks.
O BARRAQUEIRO 118, foi o demonstrador do UTIC LEYLAND DAB "Standard".
