1984 Portugal: Another Stop another Town.

I'm not sure where this was taken in Portugal but it couldn't have been too far from Evora judging by the look of heat and the bus fleet number series. As you can see our tour bus in the background had only just pulled and other passengers were still alighting as I quickly nabbed yet another of RN's attractive Utic bodied AEC Reliance's still in it's old colours for posterity. I think one of the local toddlers is playing a game of hide and seek with it's mother before getting smacked.

  1. Thank you so much for this wonderful picture from the Alentejo region in Portugal. It has always amazed me how long the Portuguese took to adapt to the new livery of the company. RN buses in old livery were seen for over a decade after 1976. In fact I took a picture of a bus similar to this one in Beja in 1987, 11 years after becoming Rodoviaria Nacional. Furthermore, one or two of the buses in RN livery are still present today in the north west, about 18 years after the end of that era. And RN styled bus stops are also still around.

Another one to my 8000 colection!
    What a wonderful photo!
It's difficult to identify the place, but could be Vila Viçosa.
    Thank you very much, Chris!
    Keep going!
