Leicester R Series Metrobus at Loughborough

Corrosion was the biggest problem with the MCW Metrobus so I imagine the outside Scotland not so common Alexander R Series bodied variant was a much better bus, they certainly looked good in their day. Following Deregulation Leicester City Bus found themselves well outside the city such as here at a rather dreary Loughboriugh Bus Station still with it's old concrete shelters.

  1. If my memory serves me correctly, Leicester City Bus starting into Loughborough a couple of years before deregulation. The 121 was a jointly-operated service with a local coach operator, County Travel, linking Louhgborough with Leicester via some of the villages to the west of the A6. From what I can recall, both operators used coaches at first but County Travel later gathered a small collection of Scania/MCW Metropolitans (including ex-London and ex-Tyne & Wear examples).

  2. Thanks for that, I hope I am better at taking photos than checking out facts. I might sometimes get it wrong, but writing nothing would be too easy an option.
