Seen at Maidstone prior to entering service was this Northern Counties Daimler Fleetline. By the time these had all been delivered the 74 buses didn't outnumber the many earlier M&D MCW bodied Atlanteans but here at least they were king as just one example 6490 (DH 490) remained, but of course there were still plenty of fine PD2's to enjoy at the garage whose allocation was in the Sixties, and of course visiting Atlanteans in the town were still commonplace from places like Gillingham.
Following my comment yesterday about enjoying the photographs, today's has really hit the spot! Whenever I can get my google account to log in my user name is "knightrider" as a homage to the wonderful M & D.
ReplyDeleteThanks Knightrider, I also have a contact of the same name on Flickr. I'm glad I'm not the only one to suffer gremlins on Google but I always sign in okay. What I hate most of all is typing in the spam security letters as I can hardly make out what they are. Yes my loyalty lies with the old BET companies and M&D is up there amongst my favourites. Some prefer Southdown but they were all different and together with East Kent made a fine mix. I also liked Leylands and Massey bodywork so Maidstone was something like bus paradise for me. Going back to your comments the other day on rudeness I've had a couple of thoughts. As I don't invite chat from Facebook etc or try to popularise my blog and probably because my oldish photos don't appeal so much to youngsters my audience must be more mature and civilised.
