BUSWORLD PHOTOGRAPHY

I AM CHRISTOPHER LEACH THE ARTIST. I started this blog so that I can share with everyone my vast collection of transport photographs showing a personal and nostalgic view of the industry with images that span some 45 years taking in the U.K and some of Europe. I have no darkroom and so rather than being the perfectionist after tidying them up I upload the images warts and all, and even those that won't scan squarely or are scratched. In a way it adds age and character. You are all free to download these for your personal use but please remember I still own them and you are not just free to use them without prior permission for any knd of publishing. Click on images to enlarge them and if you want to see more leave your comments or visit my website for the mother-site with galleries including those Buses & Girls: PICTUREWORLD

CBM: A French Box on Wheels

When we think of France it conjures up images of style and beauty, but they do ugly very well too. Parked up at Looe in the Eighties one doesn't have to see much of the Wallace Arnold Plaxton bodied Leopard standing alongside it to realise the three-axle CBM isn't going to win this beauty contest.

Amsterdam Reflexions

After a sailing delay a weekend trip to Amsterdam turned out to be just a Sunday Morning in the city taking pics whilst the rest went on a canal trip. That might have explained the view over the top of a car of a French Mercedes coach on tour. It was about 1982 and this Club Alliances coach must have been touring the low countries and into Scandinavia as I also photographed it in Copenhagen.

Here's the deal: Any colour you want as long as it's a horrid Trabant!

One good thing I suppose is car theft and joy riding would have been unheard of in East Germany before Reunification and that must have been reassuring as families saved up for years to get their environment damaging two-stroke dream car. No doubt many were a lot more content under Communism and will miss being younger in 'the bad old days'. Lucky tourists wanting to see how the other half lived came before the Wall came down like this party from France on their Bova Futura 'Super Coach' of Levet. The last two numbers tells you where it was from but I've forgotten them all apart from Paris being 75.

Beau Voyages

The holiday season has come to an end in the South of France. Here is a memory of hot sunny days taken in Corsica in 1988 of a coach belonging to Beau Voyages in Setra's more flamboyant days,  but it is a style I have grown to like perhaps through the torments of  nostalgia rather than taste..

Beau Voyages

I will certainly try. A nice smile from the courier on this Setra coach on Corsica at the end of the Eighties.

Ajacio

The only thing most people know about the small town of Ajacio in Corsica is that it is the birthplace of Napoleon but they do have Renault buses too.
