I AM CHRISTOPHER LEACH THE ARTIST. I started this blog so that I can share with everyone my vast collection of transport photographs showing a personal and nostalgic view of the industry with images that span some 45 years taking in the U.K and some of Europe. I have no darkroom and so rather than being the perfectionist after tidying them up I upload the images warts and all, and even those that won't scan squarely or are scratched. In a way it adds age and character. You are all free to download these for your personal use but please remember I still own them and you are not just free to use them without prior permission for any knd of publishing. Click on images to enlarge them and if you want to see more leave your comments or visit my website for the mother-site with galleries including those Buses & Girls: PICTUREWORLD

BVG Zehlendorf Garage

One of a tiny batch of about five buses and only to be found working on suburban routes around the district of Zehlendorf  was this short MAN. It was caught leaving the large local two-hundred bus garage which was ringed with flats for the staff so apart from this view it was hard to look inside. Built in 1937 it was badly bombed in the war but this entrance arch and the concrete plaque survived the destruction.  Made famous for his role in Fawlty Towers, Andrew Sachs who played Manuel came from here before his family fled Germany because they were Jewish.

Hi Christopher,

I tried to reach you via e-mail but did not yet hear back from you (or the mail was blocked by spam filters...)

I am working for Stadtwerke Münster, which operates the bus routes in the town of Münster (like BVG does in Berlin). For a post on our corporate blog, I am searching for a picture of the former Zehlendorf garage in Berlin. I found this one and ask your permission to use that photo on our blog, of course with attribution and a link to your website.

I would be happy to hear from you.

Best regards

Florian, f.adler@stadtwerke-muenster.de
