BUSWORLD PHOTOGRAPHY

I AM CHRISTOPHER LEACH THE ARTIST. I started this blog so that I can share with everyone my vast collection of transport photographs showing a personal and nostalgic view of the industry with images that span some 45 years taking in the U.K and some of Europe. I have no darkroom and so rather than being the perfectionist after tidying them up I upload the images warts and all, and even those that won't scan squarely or are scratched. In a way it adds age and character. You are all free to download these for your personal use but please remember I still own them and you are not just free to use them without prior permission for any knd of publishing. Click on images to enlarge them and if you want to see more leave your comments or visit my website for the mother-site with galleries including those Buses & Girls: PICTUREWORLD

Potters Bar's ex West Yorkshire PTE Metrobus Maark 2

I remember when I started spotting all one saw of LT at Potters Bar Garage was the ubiquitous RT type, but by the end of the Eighties it had become choice-wise  a kind of lucky dip with a good selection of secondhand types from various PTE's. This Mark Two Metrobus had come from West Yorkshire PTE but as to where it was taken that is another matter as I did a number of calls with my van in the Enfield, New Southgate, Cheshunt area. Of course this was one of the least exciting additions as London Buses had plenty of not too different Mark1 Metrobuses already.

It's entering Potters Bar garage - still identifiable from Google Streetview https://goo.gl/maps/Tz66ni1nmf82
Always enjoy the photography shared here - and the memories they create.

The Mark 2 Metrobus was one of a pair which had come from West Yorkshire PTE. Potters Bar also had a pair of Alexander-bodied Metrobuses from the same source, five Metrobuses each from Greater Manchester and Tyne & Wear PTEs, Alexander-bodied Ailsas from West Midlands PTE and Van Hool McArdle-bodied Ailsas from South Yorkshire PTE. The only PTEs not represented in Potters Bar's allocation were Merseyside and Strathclyde - although London Country operated ex-Strathclyde Atlanteans into the town on LT tendered services which had previously been worked by Potters Bar garage.

Thanks both, glad you appreciate my blog, not exactly the glorious Sixties but very interesting times even around London.
