Some Independents were renowned for always turning out a smart fleet of interesting bus and the most obvious to spring to mind is The Delaine of Bourne, but another little operator was Jim Stones who even went to the trouble of reserving BUS 1S for a rather humble Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart.
BUSWORLD PHOTOGRAPHY
I AM CHRISTOPHER LEACH THE ARTIST. I started this blog so that I can share with everyone my vast collection of transport photographs showing a personal and nostalgic view of the industry with images that span some 45 years taking in the U.K and some of Europe. I have no darkroom and so rather than being the perfectionist after tidying them up I upload the images warts and all, and even those that won't scan squarely or are scratched. In a way it adds age and character. You are all free to download these for your personal use but please remember I still own them and you are not just free to use them without prior permission for any knd of publishing. Click on images to enlarge them and if you want to see more leave your comments or visit my website for the mother-site with galleries including those Buses & Girls: PICTUREWORLD

didn't this have slogans on the back around the number plate reading "THIS" and "GOING TO LEIGH"
Jim Stones is famous for his collection of personal plates that move from bus to bus although some disappear on retention for periods between use. They include H1 JYM, BUS 1N, M1 BUS, T1KET, JB51BUS, B1 JYM, J5 BUS, BU52 LEE, B1 BUS, B10 JYM, BUS 1S (as above) BUS 1T, BUS51T. BUS 1S as featured is currently on a 2017 Enviro 200.
Ken
Ken, maybe he keeps adding buses to his fleet so that he can use more of his number-plates. At one time operators had a favourite series of number they always tried to get.
Eddie you are probably right but I didn't go often enough to Leigh to notice that much.
