BUSWORLD PHOTOGRAPHY

I AM CHRISTOPHER LEACH THE ARTIST. I started this blog so that I can share with everyone my vast collection of transport photographs showing a personal and nostalgic view of the industry with images that span some 45 years taking in the U.K and some of Europe. I have no darkroom and so rather than being the perfectionist after tidying them up I upload the images warts and all, and even those that won't scan squarely or are scratched. In a way it adds age and character. You are all free to download these for your personal use but please remember I still own them and you are not just free to use them without prior permission for any knd of publishing. Click on images to enlarge them and if you want to see more leave your comments or visit my website for the mother-site with galleries including those Buses & Girls: PICTUREWORLD

Prague KT 8 9027

I imagine most of you will think of Prague trams being in that familiar red and cream livery but here are a whole range of advertising liveries. As well as the Tatra trams on view is one of the earliest of KT 8's which first arrived in 1985.

I was looking at Prague transport online earlier this evening, vaguely thinking of a trip back over there sometime, and you've posted this... :-)

It seems that Prague's trams went fully low-floor last year, but they've realised that the tourists like the old trams, so as well as the Museum's weekend historic tram service (now route 41), DPP have followed TfL's idea of using historic vehicles to strengthen a main route through the tourist areas and have introduced a new "nostalgic line no.23" which runs through the city centre and out to the castle, using reinstated and modernised Tatra T3 trams.
As in London, normal fares apply, which makes it much more attractive than any special service (even though the museum tram only costs about a quid a ride). Details at http://www.dpp.cz/en/nostalgic-line-no-23/

...and now I find myself wondering if I can get over there for a weekend soon!
